Pool & Spa Heaters

Swim in January, not just July.

Florida water gets colder than people expect between December and March, and an unheated pool goes unused for a third of the year. A propane heater brings a pool up quickly and holds a spa at temperature in an hour rather than a day — which is the difference between using it on a whim and planning around it.

Why propane for this

Fast, not eventual

Propane heats far quicker than a heat pump. A spa is usable the same evening rather than tomorrow.

Works on a cold night

Heat pumps lose output as the air cools — exactly when you want the heat. A gas heater does not care.

Heat only when you use it

Bring it up for the weekend and leave it off the rest of the week. There is no penalty for intermittent use.

Spas especially

For a spa, gas is almost always the right answer. The volume is small and the temperature rise is large.

The part that gets underestimated

Pool heaters are hungry. A typical unit draws several times what a range does, and a spa heater more again. The gas line and the regulator have to be sized for that draw at the distance from your tank, or the heater will short-cycle and never quite reach temperature.

Tank size matters too. A heater run through a cold snap can empty a small tank quickly, so we will tell you honestly whether your existing tank carries it or whether the job is really a tank upgrade with a heater attached.

How the job runs

  2. Property site visit — we look at the tank, the route and the load.
  3. Contract and property survey — what is being installed, drawn and agreed.
  4. Permit — we file with your local building department and handle the inspection.
  5. Install and first flame — tested, inspected and commissioned with you there.
